If you're like me and got your hands on the RC build of Windows 7 you've been lamenting this day for a while now. Starting next Monday, February 15th, Windows 7 will begin cycling 2 hour shut downs, which not only will be annoying, but will impair the save feature when working in applications.
Don't get me wrong, I love Windows 7, but it just sucks having to officially buy something that I've been using for almost a year now. Though, I knew about this from the start when I first signed up and you should've too! So what are you going to do now - Go back to XP and Vista? Or will you fork over the cash to run Microsoft's new stylish OS?
Oh, and don't think you can outrun that 2 hour shut down process for long either! Starting June 1st your desktop will be replaced with a "This copy of Windows is not genuine" image, so there's much of a workaround. Just do the right thing and buy a legit copy - I think Microsoft deserves it for finally pulling through and giving us something we can actually work on without complaint.

Microsoft reports this quarter they've earned more than $19 billion dollars in revenue, and it's all thanks in part to fan favorite, Windows 7; Selling over 60 million copies since its release in late October, the sleek and sexy operating system has become the fastest selling OS ever released. Turning popular opinion on its head, Windows 7 gave Microsoft another chance at life and made the common PC user think twice before switching over to a MAC - and how could you blame them for considering it after the monstrosity that was Vista, and all those quirky yet lovable "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads - we heart you John Hodgman.
Windows 7 made owning a PC fun again, and it's given some credibility back to a company that appeared down and beaten. I'm not trying to sound like an ad here myself, but I love everything about Windows 7, and if you haven't gotten the chance to upgrade yet you really should consider it. And as a dedicated PC user, I doubt I'll ever switch exclusively to a Mac because of it... that is unless Apple wants to start sponsoring us and hand me a Macbook Pro to try out, which in that case I might not toot Microsoft's horn so much. Hey, I've been defending the iPad left and right all over the internets these passed few days - I think I deserve some recognition!
the 3 Best Free Antivirus applications for Windows 7

Windows has always been known for "viruses" and being "unsafe" and Windows has earned a reputation of being the virus prone OS. Why though? Well lets compare it to Mac. There is one Mac user for every Windows user, and that tells a lot. If you are a virus developer, you are going to go for the biggest crowd right? The next question is what can you do to protect yourself from all these viruses? Its hard to decide which one to download, so we made it easy with a simple choice, and we have gone around the interwebz and found the top 3 Anti-virus apps available today [Continued...]
Why you don't need to keep re-installing Windows to "Start Fresh"

Every tech savvy person always tells you to re-install Windows every once and a while to "speed things up". The problem is, the operating system itself doesn't get slower, its all the stuff you are installing or using. Windows is just another piece of software that just happens to have the ability to run stand-alone. Here is the real reason why your Windows OS is slow.
Windows 7 is borrowing a Mac look and feel - Microsoft group manager

Before yesterday, lots of people didn't have a clue as to who Simon Aldous is. Mr. Aldous, a group manager at Microsoft, and he recently had a sit down with PCR to do a Q&A. He stirred the pot (to the point of it slopping over the sides). He had been asked one particular Question that was pointed directly at the shiny new OS. When asked if Windows 7 was "really a much more agile operating system," Simon made a deliberate decision to say the following:
One of the things that people say an awful lot about the Apple Mac is that the OS is fantastic, that it's very graphical and easy to use. What we've tried to do with Windows 7 – whether it's traditional format or in a touch format – is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics.
Then he trainwrecked the statement by stating that "We’ve significantly improved the graphical user interface, but it’s built on that very stable core Vista technology, which is far more stable than the current Mac platform, for instance." Microsoft was none to happy.
