    Twitter and Paid Business Accounts

Twitter has been immensely popular within the last two years - garnishing attention from Oprah, all the way up to President Obama. But did you know that even with all that press and all the use that it's gotten, Twitter's profit margins are thin compared to other social networking giants. So in an attempt to create a successful business model  Twitter has come up with the "Paid Business" account.

"This takes advantage of some of the commercial use of Twitter we've seen from businesses like airlines and big box stores. We want to present to them a layer of features that allows them to become better at Twitter, show them some of the analytics."
                                                                                         -Biz Stone, Twitter Co-Founder

For an upgrade fee businesses will have access to a bit more "layers", as Stone put it. These layers would contain information such as statistics and feedback, and it's a no brainer why companies, especially bigger ones, would want to jump on the idea and get even more of a hold on who's checking them out.
